Commissioner addresses ‘khuli kachehri’ in Lakki Marwat

LAKKI MARWAT: The Commissioner, Bannu division Shaukat Ali Yousafzai along with Regional Police Officer Awal Khan visited Lakki city and after hearing public issues in an open forum held at the Town Hall here on Friday, said that providing door to door services to the people was the top priority of the present government.

The DC Lakki Marwat Abdul Haseeb Khan, AC Lakki Marwat Umar Bin Riaz, AC Naurang Aminullah Khan, DSP Azmat Bangash, MS City Hospital Dr Ishtiaq Ahmed, TMO Almar Khan and other officers were present on the occasion. The forum was attended by a large number of people including the local MPA Munawar Khan, former Tehsil Nazim Faridullah Khan Minakhel and Engr Amir Nawaz Khan.

The Commissioner Bannu issued directives to the concerned departments on the spot to resolve most of the issues. Here, it is to be mentioned that majority of the problems were related to power outages, gas, drinking water, overcrowding, sanitation, health and the flour crisis.

Dr Ishtiaq Ahmed, MS, City Hospital, while referring to the security situation at the hospital, said that since the hospital was located in the heart of Lakki city, which was heavily congested, no special security measures had been taken there. Therefore, the Commissioner, while resolving the issue on the spot, said that a police contingent would be deployed at the hospital from next day.

Haji Gul Rehman Nawarkhel, former Union Councilor, while exposing the ongoing corruption in the TMA, said that the annual ADP funds from 2016 to 2018 were given to the elected representatives as charities, thanks to which most of their development projects could not reach completion. Azharuddin pointing out the problem related to PESCO, said that his village Paharkhel Thal had a few power transformers which were overloaded so two or three more new transformers should be installed to reduce the load.

While responding the said complaints, the Commissioner Shaukat Ali Yousafzai issued instructions to the line superintendent of PESCO and said that he should send one or two of his officials to the concerned village to review the situation and try to find a solution to this problem.

Ikramullah Advocate, who hails from Abdul Khel village, lamented the poor condition of cleanliness and encroachments. He said that the road leading to BHU had been mostly overlooked. He added that in the year 2000, several requests were made to the higher authorities in this regard but no practical steps had been taken so far due to which a precious life was lost a short while ago.

Asif Saleem Advocate stated that the water supply pipeline was in a state of disrepair, forcing the residents of Lakki city to use unhealthy water. The Commissioner Bannu directed the TMO Lakki Marwat Almar Khan to resolve the issue as soon as possible.

In his address, the Commissioner Bannu said that government officials were servants of the people and the government had placed them here to serve the public, adding that the doors of his office were always open for the people of North Waziristan, Bannu and Lakki Marwat.

He urged the government officials to solve the problems of the people immediately and stated that their salaries were being paid from the public taxes. Expressing his affection to the poor and needy people, he said that they had no one to look after them except Allah Almighty and they did not have such access to the higher authorities so all the officials should sit in front of the people by holding an open forum regularly.
