Prof Gul Muhammad nominated as Sectoral Champion in National AI Taskforce

MARDAN: The Government of Pakistan under the Ministry of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives has nominated Prof Dr Gul Muhammad Khan, Vice Chancellor, University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Mardan, as Sectoral Champion for “Energy & Climate Change” under the National Artificial Intelligence (AI) Taskforce.
According to the official notification, the National AI Taskforce has been constituted to strengthen national efforts in Artificial Intelligence planning, adoption, and capacity development across priority sectors. As Sectoral Champion, Prof Dr Gul Muhammad Khan will lead the formation of a domain expert working group comprising relevant stakeholders from academia, industry, and civil services. The working group will provide strategic guidance and develop a sector-specific roadmap for AI-driven initiatives in the energy and climate change sector.
The nomination of Prof Dr Gul Muhammad Khan is being widely appreciated as a significant recognition of his leadership and contributions towards innovation, research, and sustainable development.
The UET Mardan community congratulated him on this national responsibility and expressed confidence that his expertise would contribute positively to Pakistan’s progress in energy and climate change sector.
