PESHAWAR: The dispute between the administration and Associate Professor Dr Syed Asif Shah at Burn Center Peshawar has intensified. Dr Asif Shah held a press conference here the other day expressing serious concerns over the alleged deprivation of promotion, discrimination and harassment by the center’s administration, and in response, the administration sent him a notice of Rs 1 billion in damages.

In the press conference, Dr Asif Shah said that he has been fed up with this situation for the last five years and now his personal life has also been affected, so, he should be given justice on emergency basis.

According to him, he was denied promotion twice by the burn center administration, while he was constantly harassed and discriminated. He said he had been fighting for his rights in the courts for the past five years, while several letters have also been written to high-ups for justice.

However, according to burn center sources, he takes leave from the institution for several months that he is ill, but he regularly treats dozens of patients every day in his private clinic, on which a strict action should be taken by the concerned authorities.

Prof Dr Tahmidullah, Director of the Center, was contacted in this regard, but he refused to give any opinion and said that he was engaged in several other positive activities rather than this issue.
