World Population Day observed in district Mohmand

PESHAWAR: The World Population Day was observed on Saturday in district Mohmand under the auspices of Population Welfare Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Directorate General Population Welfare Department.

In this regard, a short ceremony was held at the district headquarters Ghalanai in which Dr Shabbir, Deputy District Health Officer (DDHO) participated as chief guest, whereas District Population Officer (DPO) Ghafoor Shah, Dr Kalsoom Iqbal and Maulana Noor Wali Shah as well as people from different walks of life attended the event. Apart from this, banners carrying messages of the importance of family planning and adopting precautionary measures regarding the Corona outbreak had also been displayed on the prominent places of the district.

While throwing light on the need of family planning amid the Corona pandemic, DDHO Dr Shabbir, DPO Ghafoor Shah and other speakers highlighted the problems associated with unplanned and rapid growth of population which had further become evident in the form of limited healthcare facilities during the Covid-19 epidemic.

Meanwhile, Dr Shabbir thanked the Population Welfare Department’s officials for being the front line service providers along with the Health Department amid the prevailing situation, whereas surgical gloves, face masks and hand sanitizers were distributed among the participants by DPO Ghafoor Shah and other guests.
