Residents face up to 22 hours of unannounced load shedding

TANK: Tank and its surrounding areas are grappling with severe unannounced load shedding, with power outages reportedly lasting up to 22 hours daily. Residents are experiencing significant distress due to the prolonged electricity cuts, which are often attributed to ‘artificial faults’, even after minor rainfall. In some suburban areas, power remains disconnected for days.

The prolonged power outages have led to a severe drinking water crisis, as pumps cannot operate without electricity, compounding the difficulties faced by the community. Locals express frustration, stating that PESCO officials are managing the Tank office from Dera Ismail Khan, some 40 kilometers away, citing security concerns.

The dire situation, coupled with a deteriorating law and order situation, is reportedly forcing some residents to relocate. Public circles have urged the PESCO Chief to immediately transfer the Executive Engineer (XEN) and Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) to address the crisis.
