WHO polio officer, two others released after kidnapping

TANK: In a dramatic turn of events, Dr Ehsan, a World Health Organization (WHO) polio officer, and his two colleagues, Abdullah Kundi and Hikmatullah, have been safely released after being kidnapped earlier this month.

According to details, the kidnapping occurred on September 15 when unknown armed individuals abducted the WHO officials while they were monitoring the polio campaign in Umurkhil village, Tank.

The release was made possible through the special efforts of Tank Deputy Commissioner Tanvir Ahmad Khattak and the national security committee, comprising elders from all local tribes. After their release, the officials thanked the Deputy Commissioner and the security committee for their safe release, praising their effective strategy.

Speaking to the media at the DC office in Tank, the officials expressed gratitude to Deputy Commissioner Tanvir Ahmad Khattak and the security committee elders, saying their safe release was possible due to their best strategy.
