Senior journalist robbed in broad daylight in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: Senior journalist and Chief Editor, Daily Sunrise Today, Asif Khan Turk, was robbed in broad daylight on Monday, July 28, 2025 on Warsak Road near Information Department. The incident has sparked widespread outrage and condemnation from journalist community and newspapers’ owners.

According to details, Asif Khan Turk parked his car outside the Information Department on Warsak Road, and went for some work to the department. Meanwhile, a masked thief broke the side window of the vehicle and stole his bag containing a laptop, mobile phone, wireless microphone set, two cheque books, official files, and other valuable items worth over Rs 200,000.

After the robbery, the incident was reported in Machini Gate Police Station. However, despite a month passing since the incident, the police badly failed to apprehend the thieves and recover the stolen items.

Journalist Asif Khan Turk has expressed his deep concerns and demanded that the authorities must take notice and punish the culprits.

The journalist community and newspapers’ owners have strongly condemned the incident, terming it a big failure of the police to maintain law and order in the city. They have demanded the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Inspector General of Police for taking notice and directing the police to take immediate action by restoring peace and security in Peshawar.
