Psychology Dept of UoP celebrates 75th Independence Day

PESHAWAR: The Department of Psychology, University of Peshawar (UoP) celebrated the 75th Independence Day of Pakistan with zest and zeal here on Friday.

A function was held in this regard at the Autism Unit of the Department of Psychology wherein faculty, staff, autistic children and their parents participated in large number. The Chairperson, Department of Psychology, Prof Dr Erum Irshad was the Chief Guest on the occasion.

Addressing the participants, she highlighted the services being provided by the Psychology Department for the rehabilitation of autistic children. She informed that training workshops for the parents of autistic children would be started in the 2nd shift of the Autism Unit while establishment of the Inclusive Education Unit was in process and would be inaugurated soon.

Prof Dr Erum Irshad stressed that parents should strongly contribute to the addressal of the issue of autism among the community, adding that the concerned authorities and particularly media should also pay utmost attention to awareness in this regard.

Lecturer Nazma Nasir, Speech Therapist Sara, Clinical Psychologist Saima, Speech Therapist Sana Ghaffar, Speech Therapist Sana Hameed, Speech Therapist Shawana and Clinical Psychologist Khushboo were also among the participants.
