Sunrise Today holds SJSP Science Expo 2021

PESHAWAR: The Sunrise Today through its subsidiary organization – Science Journalism Society of Pakistan, organized the season 2 of SJSP Science Expo on December 14, 2021 at Pearl Continental in which a number of universities and scientific and other relevant organizations of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa exhibited their research and scientific projects to industry, authorities and public and got massive attention of the visitors.

Prof Dr Zafar Iqbal (T.I.), Patron-in-Chief, Science Journalism Society of Pakistan, was the Chief Guest on the occasion, while Prof Dr Bashir Ahmad, Vice Chancellor, BKU, Dr Farhat Jabeen, Director, ORIC, BKU, Prof Dr Sanaullah Jan, Director, PICO, Dr Mahboob-ur-Rahman, Chairman, MMI, Dr Altaf-ur-Rahman, Director, MMI, Dr Nasru Minallah, Director, ORIC, UET, Fawad Ahmad, Deputy Director, KMU and Zia-ur-Rehman, Assistant Professor, PIPOS, were among the special guests. Apart from this, the event was visited by hundreds of people from different walks of life.

The expo was inaugurated by Prof Dr Zafar Iqbal (T.I.), Patron-in-Chief, SJSP, and Ashraf Khan Gadoon, Chief Executive, Sunrise Today Media Network. Meanwhile, a seminar was also arranged in which Asif Khan Turk, Editor, Sunrise Today and President, SJSP, Ashraf Khan Gadoon and Prof Dr Zafar Iqbal (T.I.) addressed the audience and highlighted the need and importance of such scientific activities to create awareness about the science in society.

Addressing the participants, Asif Khan Turk, Editor, ST, said that the aim of the SJSP Science Expo was to provide an effective and enabling platform to academia and other relevant institutions to display their scientific work on mega level as in Pakistan the work of scientific institutions mostly remained unreported which discouraged people associated with science that’s why there must be a strong relationship between the academia and media to effectively communicate the benefits of science to public.

Ashraf Khan Gadoon, Chief Executive, STMN, while speaking to the audience told that the main purpose of the mega science event was to project and promote the talent, creativity and innovation of the academia by encouraging people related to science, adding that the Sunrise Today had always been promoting science and technology on priority basis through its vibrant and effective media platform.

The Patron-in-Chief of SJSP, Prof Dr Zafar Iqbal (T.I.) while addressing the seminar stated that it was hoped that public, industry and the authorities concerned would take keen interest in the event for the purpose of establishing the culture of science, research, innovation and commercialization in the country on modern and advance scientific lines.

Here, it is to be mentioned that Bacha Khan University Charsadda, University of Engineering and Technology Peshawar, Khyber Medical University Peshawar, Mahboob Medical Institute Peshawar, Pakistan Institute of Community Ophthalmology Peshawar and Pakistan Institute of Prosthetic and Orthotic Sciences Peshawar participated in the expo as partners and displayed their research projects, scientific models and technological developments at their stalls.

It is also worth mentioning that during the expo the Pakistan Institute of Community Ophthalmology Peshawar arranged a free eye camp for the visitors, wherein the eyesight of around 50 people, particularly the students, was checked with latest and advance technology and they were given advices and suggestions by the ophthalmologists of PICO for the better health of their eyes.
