Asif Khan Turk meets Atif Khan to promote S&T in KP

PESHAWAR: Asif Khan Turk, Editor, Sunrise Today and President, Science Journalism Society of Pakistan (SJSP), met with Atif Khan, Provincial Minister for Food, Science & Technology and IT Khyber Pakhtunkhwa here on Tuesday and discussed the promotion and popularisation of science and technology in the province through journalism.
Asif Khan Turk while talking to the provincial minister said that the role of journalism was very important for conveying the basics of science to common man as majority of the people of our society did not understand the complex language of science that’s why here we need journalists to make the process of communication easy and convenient.
He stated that our 50 to 60 percent problems were related to science and if we would give utmost importance to science, these problems would be automatically solved, that’s why we need to prioritise science in our daily life, adding that our mainstream media should give at least 5 percent space to science and the related subjects in order to address our half of the problems in a proper way.
The provincial minister appreciated the efforts of SJSP in the promotion of science in Pakistan, especially the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province and assured his full support and cooperation in the upcoming projects of Sunrise Today and SJSP regarding the popularization of science and technology through journalism and mass communication.
