LAKKI MARWAT: The district police officer sacked 14 cops for having links with criminal elements in the district, official sources said on Wednesday.

They said that the DPO Abdur Rauf Babar Qaiserani taking serious notice of the elements having links with the anti-social elements and outlaws, took stern action against 14 cops by ordering a departmental enquiry against them. They said that most of them were transferred to Kohistan district so that they could not influence the enquiry proceeding against them.

“The enquiry was assigned to a senior police official who submitted the fact-finding report to the DPO for further action,” an official said, adding that the DPO ordered their dismissal from service after they were found with the connivance of criminals and outlaws. Those who were sacked included Assistant Sub Inspector Akhto Jan, Head Constables Waqas, Matiuallah, Ikramullah, Farman, Inamullah, Fazal Karim, Kifayatullah, Nisar Khan and Constables Aslam, Miraj, Fahim, Bashir and Imtiaz.

DPO Qaiserani said that there were clear-cut directives of the provincial police chief Sanaullah Abbasi to get rid of the elements in disguise of police men in the department.
