Three cops dismissed for assaulting doctor

LAKKI MARWAT: District Police Officer on Monday dismissed three cops for abusing and torturing a senior doctor after the findings of the departmental enquiry.
In a press release, police PRO Shahid Hameed, stated that head constable Muhammad Yahya and constables Amir Nawaz and Muhammad Idrees had misbehaved Dr Umar Hayat, ENT Specialist, over parking his car on roadside two weeks ago in Michankhel Adda.
He said that taking serious notice of the incident, DPO Abdur Rauf Babar Qaiserani ordered to initiate a departmental enquiry against them under the supervision of the Deputy Superintendent of Police Azmat Bangash.
“After the completion of the enquiry, the findings revealed that the doctor was severely tortured in the City Police Station,” he said, adding that the DPO fired three of the cops from the service with immediate effect. He quoted the DPO as saying that there was no room for such elements bringing bad name to the police department.
