Workshop on Student Facilitation Center held

PESHAWAR: One day workshop on “Student Facilitation Center” was organized at the University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Peshawar here on Thursday.

The prime objective of the workshop was to create support for establishing the Student Facilitation Centers (SFCs) at all the departments of the University, said a press release issued here on Thursday.

The Vice Chancellor, UET Prof Dr Qaisar Ali was the chief guest on the occasion. While addressing the participants, he said that the establishment of SFCs was aimed to help the students in their academic problems during their studies at the UET, adding that the universities were being established to facilitate the students and if there was no enough support for them, the universities would have no purpose anymore.

He stated that SFC was firstly established at the Department of Civil Engineering with limited resources but now it was important that other heads of the departments and faculty members should also follow the same course in order to establish such Centers at all the departments to deal with the issues of the students and guide them about different matters related to their studies.

Prof Dr Hamid Ullah, Director, Undergraduate Studies, while addressing the audience said that SFC aimed at providing the important services under one roof to the students of the University, adding that these services include; applying for and receiving various documents related to examinations and academics.

Meanwhile, the semester coordinators presented the progress on SFCs at their respective departments and asked for logistic support from the Vice Chancellor. Prof Dr M.A. Irfan, Dean, Faculty of Mechanical, Chemical and Industrial Engineering, Prof Dr Siraj-ul-Islam, Dean, Faculty of Architecture, Allied Sciences and Humanities, Prof Dr Sahar Noor, Chairman, Industrial Engineering Department and other senior faculty members were also present on the occasion.
