Social media to use wisely

In rustic societies, people have interdependency on each other due to the limited resources and scarcity of amenities provided by the government. This interdependency was more evident few decades ago, but still could be seen in emergency situations and gloomy occasions. To take full advantage of each other’s experience, peace, stability, respect and freedom of opinion, democratic approach, decorum in behavior and tolerance on political and social grounds are the prerequisites, which could be reflected in every aspect of daily life including direct interaction and through social media.

Social media is a marvelous vehicle of informations and platform of political, socioeconomic and even strategic interaction. Persons belonging to each and every segment of the society use it by its own way having their own pros and cons. Majority of them use it splendidly for their business and other purposes of daily interaction and get benefited of it. Not only for making money but social media has an incredible contribution to embellish the society by bringing awareness in the divested, marginalized and downtrodden segments of the society.

Along these, there are some sensitive parameters which should be addressed meticulously on social media, and politics is one of them. Politics is the second name of tolerance, and should be dealt with extreme patience, wisdom and perseverance, especially, in our heterogeneous society where the people are divided on the basis of religious, ethnical, racial, lingual, sectarian, provincial, local, cultural, partisan and political grounds.

The case of politics is a fine example to converse here, to highlight a very common conundrum, and everyone has to deal with it on daily basis. In political and democratic societies difference of opinion is the beauty of society and democracy and everyone has his/her own jurisdiction to argue freely and independently on every topic, otherwise what is the difference between an orthodox, fundamental, obsolete and liberal society?

To flourish political norms and culture, the tolerance level of the people should be enhanced. Intolerance leads to hollow the society like the termite, deteriorating it and drastically culminate on communal riots. Sometimes, the personal grudges take the shape of permanent animosity and continue ages ahead. Such type of grappling shakes the basis of the society and destroys the mellifluous brotherhood, peace and harmony leading to anarchy which ultimately deteriorate the local businesses and hamper the frugality of the country.

To eradicate unpleasant effects of mishandling of social media, the local leadership should enforce their stalwarts and chauvinists to feel the sensitivity of the matter, because, in our country the fragile economy and vulnerable law and order situation could not face such sort of scenario. Therefore, the local leadership should keep a hawk eye on the situation by arranging frequent gatherings, corner meetings and seminars to adorn the political workers with actual soul of the politics. Live political debates are also an imminent way to ameliorate the political atmosphere, and to moderate the thinking of avid, capricious and blinkered political workers. Otherwise the situation will reach to the point of no return where everyone will be helpless to nullify the consequences of the so-called belligerent and irritable politics.

The government also should come forth to take the responsibility by taking pragmatic steps and doing effective legislation and ensure its promulgation and enactment. The role of authorities on district level is also of immense importance; to keep an eye on the situation and make SOPs before any unpleasant accident happened. Anyone found to violate the SOPs should be detained or send behind the bars. Awareness campaign should be initiated on school and college level to prepare the students about the use of social media and to boost up their tolerance level.
