Engineering fest held at GIKI

PESHAWAR: Speakers have called for the establishment of national institution to search out genius students to provide them world-class facilities for competing in higher education in their respective fields and then see where the country stands in the comity of nations.

The experts were addressing the concluding ceremony of the three-day engineering fest at the Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology, Topi, district Swabi on Monday. Organized by the American Society for Mechanical Engineering (ASME), GIK Institute chapter, academicians and students of various universities from across the country participated in the three-day event.

Prof Pervez Hoodbhoy, Pakistan’s prominent nuclear physicist said that no doubt that there was no dearth of talent in the country and with the discovering of marvelous students in diverse fields could steer the country out of crisis in future and Pakistan would certainly be able to achieve durable economic prosperity and political stability.

Jabran Nasir, a well-known Karachi-based political activist said that looking to new emerging challenges to the country the role of the academicians and students was extremely vital to contribute and play their due role in the uplift of Pakistan. Rehman Allahwala, renowned entrepreneur said that when students use their skill and capability and work with complete determination they could excel in diverse fields, especially in industry.

Earlier, unveiling the detail about the event, Humza Farooq, president of the ASME said that the participants presented their views and exchange ideas with each other while learning that where the present technological world was moving and what are the requirements of the industry in the present period.  In addition, All Pakistan E-Gaming Competition was also held in the Institute.

The competition was organized by GIK Institute Netronix Society. Faraz Hyder, president of the Society said that the 150 students of various universities and institutions participated in the competition which was divided in different games and the modern laboratories of the Institute were used by the contesters in three days contest. He said that the contest was divided in different categories and those who performance was outstanding they were awarded in the prize distribution ceremony.
