UoT to play significant role in Pakistan’s progress: Prof Saeed Badshah

PESHAWAR: The Vice Chancellor, University of Technology (UoT), Nowshera, Prof Dr Saeed Badshah said that the university aimed at becoming a prominent institution on national and international level and in such an important context, all available resources would be fully utilized.

In an exclusive interview with the daily Sunrise Today, he shared his vision for the university, highlighting its strengths and future plans.

Prof Badshah stated that the university was established in 2015 to provide quality technical education to the youth of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, enabling them to contribute to mega-projects like CPEC. “Despite limited resources, the university made significant progress, earning recognition nationwide. The faculty’s dedication to students’ growth and the emphasis on practical training have been key factors in this success,” he added.

He continued, “The university offers various programs, including BS Information Technology, BS Artificial Intelligence, BS Computer Science, and engineering technology courses in civil, electrical, electronics, mechanical, and energy areas. All these programs are recognized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and other relevant authorities.”

Prof Badshah emphasized the university’s focus on practical training with 70% of the curriculum dedicated to hands-on experience, saying that such approach enabled graduates to excel in their fields and meet the industry requirements.

Regarding challenges, he mentioned the need for a permanent campus, as the university currently operated from rented premises, adding that however, the government had allocated 600 kanals of land for the construction of a state-of-the-art campus.

The vice chancellor also highlighted the university’s commitment to faculty development, aiming to enhance its ranking and produce graduates who could excel globally, adding that with its strong foundation and visionary leadership, the University of Technology was poised to play a significant role in Pakistan’s progress at large.
