Teachers on admin posts at varsities

Editorial

Although, working of a faculty member on an administrative position at any university is a gross violation of law but this illegal practice can be observed in most of the public sector universities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while the high-ups have adopted silence over this issue, creating more and more administrative, academic and financial crises for the institutions.

It is very important to note that public sector universities in the province are already going through a worst situation, whereas the posting of teaching faculty on administrative positions such as registrar, treasurer, controller of examinations, and director admissions etc. is causing other multiple problems, as this practice is not only affecting the academics negatively but also creating huge administrative issues.

Similarly, this trend is not limited only to the government universities of the provincial metropolis but also exists at the varsities of all the districts. Therefore, it must be stopped by the authorities concerned as it is crucial for making the institutes of higher education and research more developed and sustainable.

So, the Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa – being the chancellor of public sector universities in the province, the provincial minister for higher education KP, and other high-ups should take immediate notice of this burning issue and address it on priority basis to strengthen and advance the universities in larger public interest.
