Committee set up to probe irregularities in ULM

LAKKI MARWAT: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government has constituted a fact-finding committee to probe the irregularities in the University of Lakki Marwat (ULM).

According to a notification issued by the Secretary, Higher Education Department (HED) on Saturday last, a committee comprising Director Quality Assurance and Deputy Secretary (Admin), HED, had been formed to investigate the academic, administrative and financial matters along with the alleged malpractices in the University of Lakki Marwat.

The notification stated that the committee would investigate multiple complaints about the ULM administration and to fix responsibility on those who brought the university into disrepute. It added that the members would check unlawful appointments of faculty, officers and staff as well as removal from services of employees without due process of law.

It said that the opening of unauthorized campuses/affiliations and conducting of examinations for private candidates as well as the role of Inamullah Khan as Registrar, Treasurer and Controller of Examinations at the same time and misuse of authority would also be probed thoroughly.

To check all the pertinent records of academics, finance and HR/administration, besides the appointment of junior/senior clerks as assistant registrars/assistant controllers would also be examined by the committee, the notification further stated.
