16th convocation of Riphah International University held

ISLAMABAD: The Riphah International University’s 16th convocation was held at Jinnah Convention Centre here on Saturday and Sunday, wherein degrees and gold medals were awarded to 1,000 plus newly-graduated students of the university.

On day first, students of the health & medical sciences, rehabilitation & allied health sciences, and pharmaceutical sciences were awarded degrees. Among those students, 31 received gold medals. Dr Shaista Sohail, Executive Director, Higher Education Commission was the Chief Guest on the occasion.

Dr Shaista Sohail appreciated the establishment of only female campus at Gulberg Greens and the research production by the faculty. She said that every student had to work with dedication, honesty and fairness to excel in scientific areas and make Pakistan a vibrant economy. She also appreciated the steps taken by Riphah for character building and promotion of the Islamic ethical values in students and teachers.

Earlier, Prof Dr Anis Ahmad, Vice-Chancellor, Riphah International University, talked about the academic progress of the university. He told that during the academic year the faculty members had produced 720 research papers and a reasonable number of them published in impact factor journals.

On day second, 900 newly-graduated students of the management sciences, computing, engineering & applied sciences, and social sciences & humanities were awarded degrees. Among them, 79 received gold medals. Dr Muhammad Amjad Saqib, Chairman, Akhuwat Foundation was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
