Two scholars of ICU defend M.Phil theses

PESHAWAR: Research scholars Muhammad Abbas and Hilal Ahmad of the Center for Omic Sciences, Islamia College University Peshawar (ICU) have successfully defended their theses and declared eligible for the award of M.Phil degrees in the subject of Genetics.

The theses defense function of the scholars was arranged at the ICU here on Friday. The function was followed by a question-answer session wherein they successfully answered the questions of the audience in a scholarly way regarding their research. Faculty members, research scholars, students and people from different walks of life participated on the occasion.

Both the scholars completed their research work under the supervision of Dr Musharraf Jelani, Associate Professor, Center for Omic Sciences, ICU, whereas Prof Dr Muhammad Naeem of the Quaid-e-Azam University Islamabad served as their external examiner.

The title of the thesis of scholar Muhammad Abbas is: “Mutation Screening of Families with Autosomal Recessive Sensorineural Hearing Loss in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa” while the topic of the thesis of scholar Hilal Ahmad is: “Mutation Analysis of CC2D2A Gene in Autosomal Recessive Intellectual Disability Syndrome”.

While expressing his views on the occasion, the external examiner Prof Dr Muhammad Naeem said that the research work performed by both the scholars was more than enough for the award of M.Phil degrees in the subject of Genetics, adding that he wished them best of luck for their future endeavors.
