Prof Zia ul Haq appointed as Pro-VC, KMU

PESHAWAR: Prof Dr Zia ul Haq, Dean, Public Health, Khyber Medical University (KMU), Peshawar has been appointed as Pro-Vice Chancellor of the University for a period of two years with immediate effect.

Prof Zia has earned this prestigious position at the youngest age of 39 years. He belongs to Syed family of district Dir Upper, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and his father Syed Matiullah was a senior forest officer.

He has already proved his mettle in the field as he was conferred with Lifetime Achievement Award 2017, HEC Best University Teacher Award 2018, and HEC Best Young Researcher Award 2019 in recognition of his services in the field of public health.

He is the first ever professor of public health having played a remarkable role in establishing and augmenting the department of public health as one of the best institutes in the country. He initiated many public health and family medicine programs during the 11 years of his stay at the KMU. He has been supervising several PhD scholars and a number of MPhil researchers.

He obtained his MBBS and MPH degrees from Pakistan and PhD from the Glasgow University, UK. He is a great and devoted investigator of numerous big research studies and a number of research papers published in research journals are at his credit.

His appointment as Pro-VC by the KP government is warmly welcomed in the academic circles within and outside Pakistan. The Vice-Chancellor, KMU Prof Dr Arshad Javaid and Registrar, Prof Dr Muhammad Saleem Gandapur, faculty, administrative and supporting staff of the KMU have greeted Prof Dr Zia Ul Haq on his well-deserved appointment as Pro-VC KMU.
