US Consul General called on IAP, discussed Pak-US economic relations

PESHAWAR: President Industrialists Association Peshawar (IAP) Ayub Zakori hosted the US Consul General Peshawar Shante Moore on behalf of the IAP at the head office of Zakori Industries here on Monday.

The occasion was graced by Senator Nauman Wazir, vice president IAP Ghulam Mohiuddin, executive members IAP Malik Niaz and Farhad Asfandiyar, ex-president IAP Riaz Arshad, ex-vice president IAP Haris Mufti, secretary general Muqtasid Ahsan, and members IAP N. H. Kazmi, Asghar Keen, Mian Rahimdad, Hassan Zahideen, Zaigham Kazmi and Faisal Afzal.

The US Consul General was briefed on the history, inception, economic and strategic importance of the Industrial Estate Hayatabad. He felt exalted when he was apprised of IAP’s profile, role of its leadership and as a platform of linkage between business to government and business to business.

A comprehensive discussion on Pak-US bilateral economic and trade relations was carried out in which different lucrative investment avenues specifically in Peshawar; inclusion of industries in USAID for system up-gradation, human resource capacity building through FDA certification for further compliance of FDA rules by pharmaceutical and food industries of Peshawar, priority appointment in visa processing for IAP bonafide recommendation, technology transfer, and transfer of internationally recognized good business practices were highlighted.

The Consul General after an in-depth discussion informed the participants that all points were workable, achievable and in the best interest to further bolster Pak-US economic and trade alliance. He also emphasized on US commitment of economic and industrial growth by transforming Pakistan through green initiatives which would play a crucial part in mitigating adverse climate change effect.

At the end, President IAP Ayub Zakori and US Consul General Shante Moore expressed their resolve to work closely to enhance Pak-US economic relationship, while souvenirs were also presented to each other.
