PESHAWAR: Riaz Khan Yousafzai, the General Secretary, Peoples Students Federation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has strongly condemned the action of Lahore Police in which they brutally tortured and arrested the peaceful students of the University of Management and Technology (UMT) Lahore during a protest on Thursday against the unfair fee hike and demanded of the high-ups for provision of justice to the students.

In a press release issued by his office here on Friday, Riaz Yousafzai said that protest demonstration was the democratic right of the students however the Lahore police’s behaviour in this regard disappointed the public, especially the democratic and progressive forces, adding that an impartial inquiry must be done against the police officials involved in the matter.

He maintained that Peoples Students Federation fully supported the students of UMT and demanded of the authorities concerned to fulfill their genuine demands instead of torturing them brutally which was a very disappointing thing for an educational institution and the management of the UMT must think seriously about their attitude towards the students.

The PSF provincial general secretary further stated that it was a moment of big shame for the Government of Punjab that such an unpleasant incident happened in the university, adding that all the police officials must be brought to the court of law so that next time they could not do so.
