PESHAWAR: Riaz Khan Yousafzai, General Secretary, People's Students Federation (PSF) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has said that 4th October, 2018 was a dark day in the history of Pakistan as on that day peaceful students of the University of Peshawar were severely tortured by police on the orders of oppressive Vice Chancellor and Security In-charge, however, such brutalities could not let down the courage of the students and they would struggle for their rights in every situation.

In a press statement issued by PSF provincial office here on Saturday, Riaz Yousafzai stated that on October 4, 2018 students were protesting peacefully on the issues of increase in fees, financial corruption in university, harassment of students in the name of security and non-provision of hostels to students, however, the local police charged them with batons, while many of them got injuries and admitted in hospital and in that way the university administration played holi with the blood of innocent students.

The PSF provincial general secretary further said that two years had passed but those who bathed the students in blood had not been punished yet and still the affected students were waiting for justice, whereas the recommendations of the parliamentary committee had not been implemented and the orders of the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had also been blown up, adding that the provincial government should implement the orders of the parliamentary committee so that justice may be provided to the victims of Peshawar University tragedy.
