Commissioner Afghan Refugees visits UET, meets VC

PESHAWAR: Commissioner Afghan Refugees Abbas Khan visited the University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Peshawar on Monday and met with Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Qaisar Ali.

During the meeting, they exchanged the ideas of mutual interest and looked into the possibilities of signing a MoU in near future for joint developmental projects. Prof Dr Qaisar Ali informed the Commissioner Afghan Refugees that UET had been offering 100 plus reserved seats under different academic programs to Afghan students. The meeting was also attended by senior faculty members of the university.

Mr Abbas Khan paid tribute to the faculty of the Department of Civil Engineering and to the efforts of UET for facilitating and educating the Afghan students. He urged the need to start skill development courses for the Afghan students to train them professionally.

He said that being a civil engineer and alumnus of the UET he would extend support to it in its development and growth. “I salute my university which helped me to achieve success in my career and it is the time to give back to it in the most effective manner,” he stated.
