33rd National games torch arrives in Khyber

LANDI KOTAL: The 33rd National Games torch relay arrived in Khyber tribal district on Monday.

Member Provincial Assembly Shafiq Sher Afridi, Wilson Wazir and number of local players received the torch. In this connection a simple gathering was organized at Michni Check Point, Torkham where President, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Olympic Association, Syed Aqil Shah formally handed over the torch to the MPA Shafiq Sher Afridi flanked by male and female players.

Syed Aqil Shah, who headed the torch relay, said that the main purpose of the relay was to highlight the beauty and national heritage of Pakistan to present the soft image of the tribal districts to the people of the world.

The Olympic Torch Relay of the 33rd National Games begun from the Mazar-e-Quaid, Karachi on October 6, 2019 from where it has been passed through the whole country, including Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit-Baltistan and then the torch will enter Qayyum Sports Complex Peshawar on 09 November, the opening day of the 33rd National Games.

It is to be mentioned here that the games were postponed from 27th October, 2019 to 9th November, 2019 and will continue till 14th November, 2019.
