World Glaucoma Week observed at PICO

PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Institute of Community Ophthalmology (PICO) marked the World Glaucoma Week 2022 during 7th – 11th March by organizing multiple activities e.g. glaucoma screening camp, quiz competition, painting competition and awareness walk.

The glaucoma screening camp was held from Monday to Friday which was inaugurated by Prof Dr Zia-ul-Islam of Hayatabad Medical Complex (HMC), while the event was graced by Prof Dr Zahid Aman, Dean, Khyber Girls Medical College (KGMC), Prof Dr Shahzad Akbar, MD, HMC and Dr Shahzad Faisal, HD, HMC.

A painting competition was also organized on Wednesday, wherein Prof Dr Muhammed Daud Khan, Ex-Director, PICO, participated as the Chief Guest and distributed prizes and shields among the winning team fellows. Prof Dr Sher Ali, Fine Arts Department, University of Peshawar, Dr Shahzad Faisal, HD, HMC and Dr Zahid Jadoon, Deputy Director, PICO served as judges on the occasion.

Thereafter, the glaucoma awareness walk was arranged in this connection on Thursday which was led by Prof Dr Shad Muhammed, Ex-Director, PICO, whereas Prof Dr Sanaullah Jan, Director, PICO, faculty members, staff members and students were among the participants.

At the end, a quiz competition was held on Friday among the students of PICO, wherein Team B got the 1st position. Prof Dr Niamatullah Kundi, Prof Dr Nasir Saeed and Prof Dr Zia Muhammad served as judges, whereas the Chief Guest was Prof Dr Zahid Aman, Dean, KGMC, who distributed prizes and shields among the winning team members, while a glaucoma screening camp was also arranged at the Peshawar Press Club.
