New emergency department inaugurated at DHQ Bajaur

PESHAWAR: A new emergency department has been established by International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital Bajaur. The newly built 26-bed facility has been equipped with operation theatres and other required facilities.

The new emergency department was formally inaugurated by Dr Atta Ullah Khan, Deputy Chief, Health System Reforms Unit, Health Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa here on Tuesday at a ceremony which was also attended by Assistant Commissioner Bajaur Hamza Zahoor, District Health Officer Dr Faisal Kamal and officials of ICRC and DHQ Bajaur.

The Chief Guest Dr Atta Ullah Khan in his address said that the newly established facility would provide efficient and appropriate healthcare services to the people of Bajaur. He also appreciated the efforts of ICRC in building a state of the art emergency department and stated that improvement of healthcare facilities in merged areas was a priority of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government and they were committed to provide best health facilities to public.

Speaking on the occasion, the Head of the Sub Delegation of ICRC Peshawar Farrukh Islomov said that the ICRC was committed to extend its expertise in the field of health and would continue working in a coordinated manner with the authorities and credible national partners, adding that ICRC was also providing physical rehabilitation services at Bajaur, Landi Kotal and Wana.

He appreciated the initiatives of Health Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for improving the health facilities, particularly in merged areas and stated, “We look forward to a meaningful collaboration with Health Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to improve and deliver timely response to the vulnerable population of the province.”
