Health Reporter

PESHAWAR: Provincial Nurses Association (PNA) General Secretary Anwar Sultana has expressed great concerns over non-inclusion of nurses in Covid-19 martyrs package for the families of frontline healthcare workers and said that nurses had also been serving on frontline while fighting with Coronavirus, however, they were being ignored which was a big injustice and discrimination.

In a press release issued from her office here on Wednesday, she stated that including the families of those nurses who lost their lives in battle against Covid-19 in the martyrs package was the right of nurses and the government must ensure its provision, adding that without the role of nurses, the healthcare system was incomplete, therefore, their services must be recognised.

Ms Anwar Sultana further said that the Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan, the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan and the concerned authorities and officials should look into the matter of prime importance as nurses had no other interest but to serve the ailing people with dignity and self-respect, adding that she hoped the aforementioned quarters would include the families of those nurses in the said package, who got martyred in fighting against Covid-19.
