LAKKI MARWAT: The medical superintendent has served show-cause notices to 45 more employees of various categories found absent from duties at the District Headquarters Hospital Lakki Marwat, official sources said on Thursday.

They disclosed that most of the employees appointed in various sections at the hospital were found absent since long, affecting the functioning of the hospital, adding that MS Dr Haleem ur Rehman Khattak had issued show-cause notices to 18 Class-IV and 27 other employees, including Ward Orderly, Ward Attendant, Watchman, Beheshti, Generator Operator, Receptionist and Sweepers.

The notice copy stated, “You are habitual absentee and not taking interest in performing the government duty, though you have been directed again and again to be careful and punctual but to no avail.” It added, “Therefore, show-cause notice is hereby served upon you and last and final warning is issued to you to be careful in future. Your written reply should reach the office within three days positively otherwise disciplinary action under E&D rules 2011 will be initiated against you.”

It may be added here that the hospital administration had also issued show-cause notices to 39 employees for their long absence last week. It was learnt that most of the employees did not bother even to visit the hospital, not to mention performing duty after their appointment years ago. “It is really strange to see that so many employees who had been drawing salaries at home remained absent during the period of former administrators. Why they did not take action against the absentees,” an official asserted.

When contacted, MS Dr Khattak said, “Being an administrator I am performing my duty then why not others. I can't stand to what happened in the hospital in the past. I can't permit anyone drawing salary at home without performing duty.” He further stated that he had also brought it to the notice of higher authorities of the health department whatever he was determined to do for the betterment of the health facility and welfare of the people.
