IMSciences hosts event to discuss future of start-ups in KP
PESHAWAR: The Institute of Management Sciences (IMSciences), Peshawar on Wednesday hosted a panel discussion on the future of start-ups in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Taimur Saleem Jhagra, Provincial Minister for Finance, Kamran Khan Bangash, Special Assistant to CM KP on Science and Technology and IT, Mudassir Sheikha, Co-Founder and CEO of Careem and Suniya Sadullah Khan, founder of Mouqa Online conducted the panel discussion while students and faculty members of the IMSciences attended the session in large number.
Mudassir Sheikha, Co-Founder and CEO of Careem, took over the stage and thanked the IMSciences for giving him the opportunity to deliver a speech. He reflected on the initial days of Careem service as to how he established the start-up with a mind-set to solve the local problems and how he turned the start-up into an organisation of international standard.
Addressing the students, he said that whoever wanted to become an entrepreneur should focus on the problems and then delve into finding their solutions. He praised the people of KP and said that the youth of the province had the diligence and ability to achieve great things as entrepreneurs. He talked about the future goals of Careem and stated that he had set great and ambitious goals for Careem which will get materialized in the near future.
During the panel discussion, members talked about the development that had been taking place in Pakistan and especially, in KP. According to the participants of the panel discussion, there had been a tremendous increase in entrepreneurship in Pakistan, and many recent start-ups have been very successful. They talked about the potential of Pakistanis as to how they had the talent to achieve a lot in the world if they realize their true potential and put their talent and ability to work. The panel members shared their personal experiences and knowledge to guide the students and make them aware about the business world.
The members then hold a Q&A session wherein the audience asked the members numerous questions thereby gaining a lot of the latest informative knowledge of their relative interest. At the end of the session, Dr Muhammad Mohsin Khan, Director, IMSciences thanked the guests and presented them souvenirs.
