Rooting out quackery utmost priority of KPHCC: Mohsin Ali Turk

PESHAWAR: Director Legal Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Care Commission Mohsin Ali Turk has said the Commission had zero tolerance for quackery in all forms and manifestations and strictly warned all those people practicing medicine of any kind without professional qualification and experience, adding that Health Care Commission had devised an effective strategy to end the menace of quackery from the province as it was a curse and putting the precious lives of the public at risk.

He expressed these views while giving an exclusive interview to the Sunrise Today, here on Tuesday. He stated that the KPHCC was striving for the noble cause of rooting out quackery with fast and efficient planning and in this regard, licensing of all health professionals was the top priority to streamline medical practice as per international standards in KP.

He said that a number of international organizations were also helping the KPHCC in the process of licensing and geotagging of all health professionals across the province that would be proved very helpful in the near future to completely eradicate the illegal and nonprofessional practice of medicine.

“Apart from the KPHCC, it is also the prime responsibility of the people to avoid availing the services of nonqualified medics and help us in finding out quacks in their surroundings to take action against them by presenting them before the law,” he continued.

To a question regarding the role of public in this regard, he answered that public support was highly important for them in controlling quackery, adding that the hardworking, fast and efficient team of the KPHCC was on the mission of taking strong action against this mafia in the uniform of medics across the board.

“The Health Care Commission has also notified the land and building owners throughout the province, not to rent out their properties to those people who are involved in any kind of illegal medical practice,” he further informed.

It is to mention here that Mohsin Ali Turk is a seasoned legal expert and consultant. Prior to this service, he served as an additional district and sessions judge in KP judiciary for 15 years. Apart from this, he is also a law teacher and working as a visiting faculty member at various universities.
