Construct more and more dams

Letter to Editor

Monsoon rains have caused a lot of damage in Pakistan by highly deteriorating the situation in Sindh, Balochistan, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. However, if the government had been prepared in advance to meet the situation, the loss would have been very less.

What I mean here is that if the government functionaries had taken proper measures to protect the people, the loss would have not occurred and even if it had happened, it would not have been so much. Hence, the public’s wealth and precious lives have been extremely damaged in the country due to floods.

Now a question arises that what to do? So, it is necessary that the government should take visionary steps for the recovery of human losses by properly planning to avoid further damages in the future as ensuring the protection of life and properties of the public is the basic duty of the state.

It is worth mentioning that if one looks at the PTI government in KP, it has established only a few small dams, while there is still scope for building more than 100 small and medium size dams in the province. Therefore, the provincial government should focus on constructing more and more dams to avoid further losses.
