Although, the budget for science and technology and IT in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province has been increased during the current fiscal year 2021-22 which is a very good and positive development that the government has realised the importance of science and the allied fields, however, it is not enough. The actual thing is the utilization of the allocated budget in a well-managed and proper way which has always been a core issue for which appropriate planning and management must be done.
In this context, a very important question comes to mind that if the government tries its best in this regard but despite this the fruit could not reach to common man, so what will be the benefit or positive result of all these efforts? The best answer is to promote and popularize the subjects of science and technology through media so that the essence and concept of science could reach to public in a convenient and effective way.
Actually, the role of journalism and mass communication is very crucial for conveying the basics and essentials of science to common people as majority of the persons of our society do not understand the complex language of science and technology easily that is why here we need mass media and its sources to make the process of communication easy for everyone, especially the layperson.
So, increasing the budget and doing other efforts for the promotion of science and technology by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government are a sign of goodness, improvement and dedication but the government and the concerned authorities should also prioritize the popularization of science and technology through journalism as it is the prime source of communication, education and awareness among the masses and it can betterly sensitize the society about the need and importance of science and the related areas.
