Seminar on halal accreditation held at PCSIR

PESHAWAR: Pakistan National Accreditation Council (PNAC) conducted an awareness seminar on halal accreditation in collaboration with the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) at PCSIR Peshawar here on Tuesday to highlight the need and importance of halal accreditation.

Senator Haji Ghulam Ali, Vice President SARC Chamber was the chief guest of the seminar, whereas Ismat Gul Khattak, Director General PNAC, Dr Muhammad Israr, Secretary Agriculture Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Fareed Ullah Khan Khattak, Director General PCSIR and members of the business community as well as government officials were present on the occasion.

While addressing participants, the Director General PNAC stated that Pakistan being a Muslim country had no such share in the global halal market, while several non-Muslim countries were taking benefits in trillion dollars from halal food market on international level.

Senator Haji Ghulam Ali said that Pakistan should learn from the experiences of Turkey and Malaysia etc. that how they had developed their economies by focusing on standardization of their industries, adding that now it was the right time to take right decisions.

Other guests also spoke on the occasion, while at the end; a shield was presented to the chief guest by DG PNAC, whereas certificates were distributed among the participants of the seminar.
