Riaz Khan

MARDAN: The office bearers of Muttahida Travel Agents Association Mardan (MTAAM) have demanded the government to register FIR against Shahid Ilyas, former Assistant Director of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in Mardan.

It was stated in a press release issued on Thursday, in which President, Muttahida Travel Agents Association, Rehman Gul, Chairman Sartaj Khan, Secretary Jamsheed Khan and others said that former AD FIA Mardan Shahid Ilyas and his team were very corrupt and were removed from their posts on the charges of corruption, whereas he also remained in jail for some time.

They said that in 2016, Mardan's reputable travel agents were put in the lockup without any reason and without a complaint or FIR by him. They alleged that he also looted millions of rupees from travel agents by torturing them in different ways.

They added that later on written complaints of the travel agents were submitted to the authorities of FIA and then an inquiry was conducted and he was declared guilty in the inquiry report but despite the passage of several months, no FIR has been registered against him.

They demanded the Prime Minister Imran Khan, Home Minister Ejaz Shah and DG FIA Wajid Zia to lodge FIR against the former FIA official as well as to return the money to travel agents looted by him. They further demanded the government to take strict action against him so that it becomes an example for the future.
