District Judiciary is of vital importance: Chief Justice, PHC

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Judicial Academy (KPJA), Peshawar has completed a four-week pre-service training for 23 newly appointed civil judges-cum-judicial magistrates in the different districts of the province here on Tuesday.

The closing ceremony of the pre-service training was held at the KPJA in which the Acting Chief Justice Peshawar High Court (PHC) Justice Qaiser Rashid Khan was the chief guest while Director General KPJA Ziauddin Khattak, Registrar PHC Khawaja Wajihuddin, PSO to Chief Justice PHC Amir Bashir Awan, Dean Faculty KPJA Syed Kamal Hussain Shah and Director Instruction KPJA Ahmed Iftikhar were among the participants.

The Chairman KPJA and Acting Chief Justice PHC Justice Qaiser Rashid in his address congratulated the civil judges-cum-judicial magistrates who completed pre-service training and said that the courts of civil judges play a key role in the delivery of justice and for this, it was necessary to strengthen the first link of the justice system and train the judges in accordance with the requirements of the present time.

He said that a judge should not only be aware of the law but also the constitution and the requirements of time. “A judge has to have good knowledge and information as he/she has to play an important role in providing speedy justice and people have great expectations from a judicial officer in delivering justice to them,” he maintained.

Lauding the performance of the KPJA, the Acting Chief Justice PHC stated that the academy was playing a significant role in providing cheap and speedy justice by conducting timely and exemplary training programs for judges which was a matter of pride for him, adding that 2020 was a year of various challenges and the judiciary played a key role in the delivery of justice in the challenging time of Covid-19.

Earlier, the Director General KPJA Zia-ud-Din Khattak congratulated the judicial officers on completion of their pre-service training and said that District Judiciary was the backbone of justice system and one of the key factors in the delivery of justice, adding that due to the efforts of the faculty of KPJA, the pre-service training course had been organized in a well-managed way.
