UET Peshawar, P&D Department KP sign MoU

PESHAWAR: The University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Peshawar and the Planning and Development Department (P&D) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa signed a memorandum of understanding here on Monday.

A press release has been issued here on Tuesday, according to which the aim of the MoU is to extend cooperation between the two institutions in the fields of IT, information sharing, monitoring and compliance level of different departments within the policy framework.

The Secretary, P&D Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Hamayun Khan and the Vice Chancellor, UET, Prof Dr Qaiser Ali signed the MoU. The signing ceremony also witnessed the award of a project, funded by the Governance and Policy Project of the World Bank to UET on “Integration and standardization of Management Information Systems for Effective Public Investment Management”.

While addressing the occasion, the Secretary P&D Hamayun Khan said that P&D Department under the vision of the provincial government intended to introduce standardization of management information systems for effective public investment management to utilize the public money in more transparent, efficient and intelligent manner with the utmost target of people’s prosperity and improvement in lives.

He further stated that the MoU was considered as the first step in the process of developing an agreement that enabled the P&D Department to get benefit from the expertise of the scholars of UET, adding that P&D would also support fresh graduates to engage them as paid internees in the projects in which UET would be consulted for technical support by his department.

The Vice Chancellor, UET, Prof Dr Qaisar Ali said that UET, having a huge foreign qualified human resources, was committed to work with the government and industry under the guidelines of the HEC and PEC.

Senior officials, including the Director General PCNA (Governance & Policy Project) Syed Zahir Ali Shah, Assistant Prof Dr Muhammad Adil, Coordinator GPP Naseer Ahmad and Governance Specialist Ashraf Khan were present on the occasion.
